September 2008 - HIDEAWAY LAKE KIWANIS DONATES

$97,917.00

TO LOCAL CHARITIES

October means two important things to Kiwanis members, and first of all, it means COUNTRY FEST is just days away, and it begins a new Kiwanis year. As we end our Kiwanis year, we have our annual DAY OF GIVING, which is where we not only recap all the money we’ve given away throughout the year, but we also give out additional funds. As our outgoing president, Barbara Wilson, explained, we budget how much we’ll be able to give away each year based upon the amount of money we raised the current year from our fundraisers. For 2008, we had a very successful year (THANKS TO ALL OF YOU THAT SUPPORT US THROUGH THE FLAG PROGRAM, ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT & AT OUR RAFFLE & AUCTION AT COUNTRY FEST IN THE FALL), and we raised more than we had budgeted. Because we give away ALL that we raise, a committee was formed and reviewed requests we had received and designated the additional funds to some very worthy causes. At the DAY OF GIVING meeting/luncheon on September 9th, we recognized the groups/organizations that we donated funds to, and unveiled the TOTAL AMOUNT given for 2008, which was $97,917.00!! The groups/organizations/activities that we volunteered for and/or gave money to were:

  • LINDALE ISD
