THE HIDEAWAY LAKE KIWANIS CLUB PRESENTS SCHOLARSHIPS
The HAWL Kiwanis recently awarded the scholarships to four Lindale
High School seniors, Chelsea Epperson, George Lewis, Kodi Pinnell
and Macy Parkins. Macy Parkins and Kodi Pinnell both received four
year scholarships in the amount of $11,480. Macy is the daughter
of Suzanne Tuley and Kodi is the son of Jeff and Honor Pinnell.
The Key Club scholarship in the amount of $4,000 was awarded to
Chelsea Epperson, the daughter of Tim and Gayle epperson. The Technical/Vocational
Scholarship in the amount of $2,000 went to George Lewis, son of
George and Jennifer Lewis. Other scholarships awarded included
the
$500 UIL Academic Award to Lindale High School and the $50 Sophomore
of the Year Award, and $100 to each nominee for this scholarship.
The Kiwanis Club also provides an Adult Scholarship in the amount
of $720 per semester.
The HAWL Kiwanis allows $34,000 for these scholarships each year,
and these are our largest single awards to the young people of Lindale
ISD. Each year a board of Kiwanis members with the help of high school
counselors and administration, reviews the applications and makes
the difficult task of choosing the recipients. Lindale HS is blessed
with many seniors that work hard and deserve the opportunity to receive
scholarships, and the HAWL Kiwanis is honored to be able to award
these young people, who are the leaders of tomorrow.
The funds to cover these scholarships are provided by the income
received from the Country Fest, Golf Tournament and the Flag Program.
The people who participate in these projects and the people who sponsor
them have tremendously impacted the success of providing for the
students of Lindale by their contributions and participation. |
